Read on to find out more, and as soon as the holiday has passed, contact Closet and Storage Concepts to start getting back on track with a well-organized life!
Joel (Tom Cruise) From Risky Business
If you’re the kind of person that doesn’t mind spending a few hours at a party in a pair of briefs, Tom Cruise’s character Joel from Risky Business is a great last minute costume you can likely pull straight from your overstuffed closet. The most famous scene from the movie features Tom Cruise is a men’s dress shirt, a pair of sunglasses, some tube socks, and your finest pair of tighty whities. This costume can work for either a man or a woman (ladies, feel free to pillage your husband’s underwear drawer), and anyone with a closet storage problem is sure to have at least a few of these items on hand.
Rosie the Riveter
Another classic costume that can be easily culled from your closet, Rosie the Riveter is almost as easy to put together as the Risky Business costume outlined above. First, dig through your disorganized closet for a pair of old jeans and a denim or dark blue work shirt. You’re already halfway there! Next, dive into your accessories drawer and pull out either a bandana or, even better, a polka dot scarf. Tie that bad boy around your head, put on some white Converse, and there you have it: a quick and easy Rosie the Riveter costume made up of only excess items in your closet!
Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz
This costume is perfect for the dog lovers out there that don’t want to leave Fido at home on Halloween night. If you’ve got an overflowing craft closet in your home, this costume will be a breeze to put together. Start by finding a simple blue dress, preferably gingham if you have it in your closet, as well as the brightest pair of red heels you have. Next, layer it over a white blouse. Dive into your craft closet and find that basket you’ve been hoarding since last Thanksgiving to carry your very own Toto around in, and voila: you’ve got a simple Dorothy costume pulled directly from your closet.
If All Else Fails, Grab a Sheet!
If you have a disorganized closet but still can’t find what you need for the costumes listed above, there’s always the ever-trusty white bed sheet. With a bed sheet at your disposal, there are all kinds of costumes you can make work. Have a pair of scissors? Cut out some eye holes and go as a ghost. If that sounds a bit bulky for you, simply tie the sheet around you like a toga and off you go. Happen to have a red sheet available? Tie it around your neck and suddenly you’re the most powerful super hero in the world. With a bed sheet and a bit of imagination, you’ll be on your way in no time.
