How to Organize Your Closet

How to Organize Your Closet

Closet Organization CharlotteOur lives are so busy that we often neglect things until we get sick of staring at the chaos before us and force ourselves to do something about it. This is probably a familiar scenario for most people when it comes to their bedroom closets. It’s so much easier to toss things there, but eventually, the mess makes it impossible to find the things you need and want to see.

Now that Spring is here, it’s time to think about those neglected cleaning projects and put them at the top of your Spring Cleaning To-Do List. By cleaning out and reorganizing your closet, you’ll be able to pinpoint the areas that need improve and with the help of Closet & Storage Concepts Charlotte, we can help you solve them! Here are some tips to help you prepare for a closet renovation.

Get Organized

Start by taking everything out of the closet. If you have out of season clothing packed away in boxes, take that out too. You’ll be going through everything to get rid of stuff you don’t like, things you don’t wear, and stuff that’s no longer in style. There is no point in keeping things you don’t like or wear because they’re just taking up space in your closet.

Use boxes or baskets to organize your clothes into piles of things you want to keep and reorganize, things you want to donate to family or charity service, and lastly, items that you don’t need for the season and are just taking up space.

Think Seasonally

Placing your clothing into separate piles according to the season may help you get a better idea as to how useful various items are. It may also jostle your memory enough to get you to think about how often you last wore each piece. Once you have this organized, figure out which items you can put into an air-tight storage container to save for the proper time of the year and make more room in your closet for the clothes you need right now.

Make It Stick!

When it comes to organizing your clothing, everyone has their own system. Whether you like to group your clothes by season, color, or occasion, just keep it consistent. Deciding where everything will go and sticking to the plan is the key to keeping your closet tidy.
